What are Decimals and Fractions?
- Decimals and fractions are two different ways of representing numbers.
- Decimals use a decimal point to separate the whole number part of a number from the fractional part. Fractions are shown with a numerator over a denominator eg 2/5
- The decimal system is a base-10 number system, meaning that the position of each digit in a number represents a power of 10.
- Decimals and fractions can be used to represent the same number. For example, 0.5 is equal to 1/2.
- Decimals are used while purchasing with money, temperature readings, scores and marks in percentages, any length measurement in inch, mm or cm or volume measurement of ml or ounce use decimals for accuracy
- Fractions are used in every day life such as recipe measurements like 1/3 cup or 11/2 tablespoon, in scoring like 9/10, purchasing milk like 3 1/2 liters, time measures like 3/4 hour or 1/2 day, stats and sports
How to Convert Decimal to Fraction
Step 1: To turn decimal into fraction, write the given decimal value in the form of a ratio (x/y), where the denominator is equal to 1.
Step 2: Multiply the numerator and denominator by multiples of 10, for every decimal point, in order that the decimal value in the numerator becomes a whole number.
Step 3: Simply the resultant fraction value.
For converting decimal to mixed number, divide the numerator by the denominator from the above resultant value. The remainder becomes the new numerator with the same denominator and the whole number from the division is the main part Example: if fraction value is 5/4 , then mixed fraction becomes 1 1/4

How to Convert Fraction to Decimal
Step 1: To change fraction to decimal, divide the numerator value by the denominator value.
Step 2: Stop the division method when you get 0 in the remainder.
Step 3: The value obtained in the quotient will be converted to decimals.
How to Convert Mixed Fraction to Decimal (mixed number to decimal)
Step 1: Convert the given mixed number into the improper fraction value.
Step 2: Simplify the obtained fraction value.
Step 3: Divide the fraction.
How to Convert Decimal to fraction inches
Inch fractions use denominators that are powers of 2 and go up to the 64th of an inch. That means the fraction denominators will be 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64. As a result, converting a decimal to an inch fraction is not quite the same as converting a decimal to a regular fraction.
Step 1: Let's take your decimal value, a
Step 2: Choose the precision, or in other words, the value of denominator, d
Step 3: Multiply these numbers and round them off to the nearest whole number numerator = roundoff(a * d). The resulting inch fraction is numerator / d .
